The westernmost tip of the Shima Peninsula

Gozamisaki, located in the western part of Goza Shirahama which is famous as a swimming area, is the westernmost tip of the Shima Peninsula. The Gozamisaki lighthouse that stands at this point watches over the safety of ships traveling across the Kumano Sea. It has a distant view of the Kii Peninsula from the Owase and Kumano direction, where the landforms of mountains approaching close to the shore of the Kii Peninsula can be clearly seen.
